Kowal Mfg...

... are an new industry on the home layout. A big manufacturer of Barbed wire sending it westward by train. I'm using a Walthers "Allied Rail Rebuilder" and a Faller "Gantry Crane". There will also be propane unloading equipment and a storage tank on the other side of the track at the "old facility"

There are also some work on landscape in the adjacent section "Muddy Creek". A nice guy gave me an Noch Grass Master 2.0 for Christmas...

To the right are the example of the not so bright idea to store my freighthouse on the Muddy Creek pond some weeks :(

Basement progress

A big step forward in the basement, the Junction, a non-scenic module that make the module setup to an out and back with the Staging Yard to the end point and Crawford Valley and Hawks Plain in the loop

The location are somewhere West of Chicago between the lines to Twin City and Denver on a small  branchline sometimes used to re-route the ”big trains”

 A small corner module

The Junction with a non scenic part (grey) and the closest part that will get som landscape and a bridge as scenic divider to hide the outer part of the world.

The trains are rolling. A wiew from Mill Street.

But there are still a lot work, another corner module and to connect the loop. And a lot of maintenance after more than year not running...

Inside...

...out. B.Fasth Warehouse got  some interior to show.

A big difference compared to the beginning. I started with some Walthers Modulars and added inner walls and storeys made of styrene sheets
Next step are shelfs and racks together with som boxes and crates.

Trackwork

Some small works, one is to place ties in trackjoints as preparation for painting.

A little bigger work is to make a fake turnout to an abandoned industrial track. With some paint, gravel and grass it will be almost invisible :) (the white strip is styrene used to make the correct height)

Easter...

... means a week without work together with the kids. And of course some time building on the modules.

The two new turnouts laid together with some track. The two tracks at the right still waiting to be fitted and glued.

Expanding the module

First step is to expand the framework of 10mm plywood to the full lenght.

Then it´s time for the bottom of 4mm plywood

Third step is the upper frame with soundproofing styrofoam (2*10mm) inside

And todays last step is the top layer. some pieces of track show the plan, to the left a warehouse and to the right a coal dealer. The road to the left will be altered at the gate of the textile mill...

Building buildings :)

A two week period of work created a lot of inspiration... At first a wiew along the tracks...

Mars Textile, named after my late grandfather, having an extended loading platform which will allow two boxcars to be loaded or unloaded at the same moment.

B. Fast(h) is an industrial building overlooking the yard from a small hill. Connected to this there will be an old boxcar converted to a shed down by the siding on this side.

The plan is to make a full interior that will be shown from "outside"

Just for fun...

The shelf are going to be replaced by a background and som lights.

Just for fun a number of buildings and cars were placed on their right location to test the appearence

Tomorrow it's time for the missing four switch controls to get in place...

Extra 265 West

"Mill Street" from down under. Only thing missing are the knobs on the control rods

Extra 265 West ready for switching (and testing). The tracks were really dirty and the loco need some cleaning to. And there is a BIG difference between this Atlas GP-7 and my favourite Kato NW-2. The NW is much less sensitive to dirty track...

Some paint...

... on the sides. Now it´s just waiting for the work I enjoy most, the making of complete scenes with landscape, houses, cars, people. Making the module to a little story.

Big difference, from the industrial district straight out on the countryside?
